BIOGRAPHY
Sue Ellison-Whyte has spent her career building something the legal industry does not always make easy: a practice where clients feel genuinely known, where expertise is delivered without pretension, and where the standard of service does not waver regardless of the size of the matter.
As Principal and Founder of Ellison-Whyte Law, Sue leads a boutique practice that has become one of the Mornington Peninsula's most trusted names in property law, wills and estate planning, family law, and self-managed superannuation funds. She established the firm on a conviction that clients navigating significant life moments — buying a home, protecting a family, planning for the future, navigating change — deserve legal advice that is expert, honest, and delivered with genuine care.
Sue was admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia, and has practised on the Mornington Peninsula since 2012 across multiple local firms before founding Ellison-Whyte Law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with First Class Honours — a combination that informs both the rigour and the perspective she brings to her work.
What distinguishes Sue is not just her legal knowledge but her genuine investment in the future of the profession. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Emerging Technologies and Law — Legal Technology and Innovation, and is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Commerce. She is a member of the Centre of Legal Innovation and the Legalpreneurs Lab, and she has brought that forward-thinking approach to every dimension of Ellison-Whyte Law — from its paperless, online-first systems to its transparent fixed-fee model and innovative client intake tools. She is not interested in doing things the way they have always been done. She is interested in doing them better.
Sue's commitment to the community she serves runs deeper than her practice. She volunteers as a solicitor with the Peninsula Community Legal Centre, has served as a Senior Legal Officer volunteer with the Solomon Islands Law Reform Commission through Australian Volunteers International, and is a member of both the Law Institute of Victoria and the Mornington Peninsula Legal Association.
Outside of the office, Sue is a person of genuine energy and wide interests. She plays AFL for the Red Hill Women's team, is an active member of Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club, and volunteers with the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard. She has lived on the Mornington Peninsula for over twenty years, and that rootedness — in the community, the landscape, and the people — is felt in every client relationship she builds.
